War Horse Play at Regent Theatre
I have just returned from seeing this production. It was amazing and I would recommend everyone to see it. Not only was the acting superb but everything about it was excellent. The singing , choreography, acting, story and plot. It was so moving and sitting right on the front row made us feel we were actually part of the play it was so real and very moving. How cruel the war was and what people went through. Just beautifully produced and fantastic professional actors.
Brilliant production
This was the best produced play I have ever seen. The puppet horses were brilliant. The use of the backdrop to project images of peace and war was one of the best features, I shall not forget the clods of earth, after an explosion, that turned into spatters of blood, and then into a field of poppies. Thousands of horses used in the war were shot afterwards, but Joey's rescue was made both credible and deeply moving.
A Haunting and Beautifully Crafted War Horse
A moving and unexpectedly powerful piece of theatre. I’ll admit, at first the life-size horse puppets didn’t quite win me over — but by halfway through, I’d completely forgotten they weren’t real. The way they’re brought to life is genuinely astonishing. What really stood out, though, was how the show captured the terror and futility of war. Through clever staging and direction, it manages to be deeply emotional without relying on graphic imagery. It’s subtle, theatrical, and all the more affecting for it. A beautifully staged production that’s both imaginative and emotionally resonant. Well worth seeing.
Wonderful story. Production let it down
Really enjoyed the theatrics of Warhorse. Very moving and well acted. But… The sound was poor The lighting was often Warhorse-cued and dark patches when there shouldn’t have been Actors forgot key lines - should have said Heads! when tossing up for Joey with the German soldier Stifling heat in the auditorium Extremely cramped toilets both ladies and gents Expensive drinks in the bar
