My admiration for Sunny Afternoon
This show has had a profound affect on me. It takes me back to the emerging rock and pop era of the early sixties. I was already a big Beatles fan before the Kinks came to my notice. You Really Got Me was the first record I purchased with my own pocket money in 1964. During its 2014/2015 run i watched the show 11 (eleven) times. I was present at the , Olivier Awards, Royal Opera House in 2015 when Sunny Afternoon won 4 Olivier awards and had the immense privilege of meeting Ray Davies and thanking him for everything he had achieved in the music industry. I've just seen it again for the second time on this run at Milton Keynes theatre, yet again the performances and show were magnificent. Thank you again to all the cast and support. A shout out to Ben Caplan who my brother and I enjoyed a few beers with after the Brighton show in December.
Incredible experience last night!
We went to see Sunny Afternoon last night at Oxford’s New Theatre. It was SO enjoyable filled with energy, joy and talent. The Kinks songs are carefully weaved in to the story of the Kinks and the singing, music and choreography were outstanding. We left the theatre feeling uplifted and happier on a miserable, rainy Tuesday evening! Well done everyone who made last night- thank you.
Boys were amazing
Loved it, soo good, I booked seats again two nights later. I was so taken with the performances by Danny & Oliver(Ray&Dave) a perfect team. I felt every emotion, sadness, humour, the love. Talented musicians as well as actors, can certainly handle their instruments, loved the guitars 👍 Their voices, an absolute pleasure. Ranging from soft to strong, I melted. Not forgetting a lot of love for Harry & Zakarie (Peter&Mick) terrific base &drumming skills here too & acting. Felt that schoolboy charm in you all. Oh what a talented cast in many ways. Overall the whole cast, each character, were a delight to watch in their own right. .Lisa(Rasa)a great voice. Can't fit you all in. All the Agents fabulous. Mum & Dad (In double roles). All multi talented people. Danny&Oliver's delivery of the brothers story spot on (my being around in their era & live near to Ally Pall made seeing it at this venue very poignant). Highly recommend A show to remember. You won't be disappointed. ❤️👍
Sunny Afternoon ... in Swansea
Thank you for the day (afternoon), thank you for the amazing show. You really did transport me, & I suspect most of the audience, back to childhood and early teens when the songs & fashions were new, fresh, exciting & a little dangerous. Your performances went a long way to recreating the thrill of hearing those iconic songs first time round. The cast, musicians &crew were brilliant but I have to pick out the actors playing Dad and Rasa for special mention. So versatile. The opening chords of, ‘You Really Got Me’ and ‘All Day and All of the Night’, sent shivers down my spine: Lola with sing with the along was joyous (and reminded me of a friend who claims it helped him realise he wasn’t unique); ‘Sunny Afternoon’ nostalgic; all others brought back memories both good and sad. Yet it was the a cappella version of ‘Days’ and ‘Waterloo Sunset’ that broke my heart … so beautiful (69 year old ex-rugby forward!! What am I like?) Thanks again for a scintillating show. 110% recommended.

Absolutly brilliant had a great afternoon From the writting with witty one liners to all of the cast who at times got the audiance emotional with their story telling whilst performing the tunes perfectly and with a grand finale great show thank you
Amazing!!
Every single member of the cast was superb. What an atmosphere they created. So talented. Totally captured the magic of The Kinks. Well worth a visit if you get the chance. All the staff at the theatre were friendly and professional and also helpful in creating a really enjoyable experience.
